Our ideal candidate is a senior professional from Bangladesh with an education background. This person is educated and motivated to support those in need and has experience working in a humanitarian context. She is passionate about reaching out to the community and using her skills to make a positive impact. The purpose of the Education Coordinator position is to implement the assigned education project portfolio.
Main tasks and responsibilities of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) work
- Representation in internal and external forums on behalf of NRC education programs
- Promote refugee and host community rights in-line with SPHERE and INEE minimum standards
- Design and conduct training, rollout implementation plans and prepare materials in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage capacity building initiatives including EiE, PSS and DRM
- Provide technical support and oversight to partners implementing education and youth programming
- Provide leadership and support in the design and rollout of NRC's youth and adolescent programming, including life skills and vocational training.
- Manage day-to-day operations and monitoring and evaluation processes of programming and ensure that SOPs are in place
- hiring support; Supervise and manage the education sector team including provision of capacity building
- Any other duties relevant to the position as requested by the Line Manager
Norwegian Refugee Council Job 2023 Basic education and skill requirements
- Experience working in implementing education projects in a humanitarian/rehabilitation context (managing multi-dimensional education and skills projects for 4 years)
- Candidates with a university and/or advanced degree in education are preferred; Significant experience in education, PSS or child protection is considered
- Solid computer skills including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
- Prior experience supervising large and diverse teams; Remote management experience is an asset
- Knowledge of education context in Cox's Bazar; Understanding the situation, needs and challenges of host communities and refugee children and youth
- Fluency in Bengali and English required; Rohingya or local language is an asset
- Understanding SPHERE and INEE minimum values
- Experience in youth/adolescent TVET programming, especially life skills and livelihoods/IGAs
- Experience working with children and/or educators; Experience with government is an asset
- Experience in building a team capacity and conducting large scale training
