DCA (DanChurchAid) is a Danish humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organization. DCA has been working in Bangladesh since the 1970s, both through partners and self-implementing. DCA has one office in Dhaka, and one office in Cox’s Bazar. We work for the poor, vulnerable and socially excluded communities.
Overall purposes of the role:
Finance Officer is responsible for the financial management and reporting of the project in consultation with the Finance Coordinator and Head of Support Services of DCA Country Office. Finance Officer will maintain efficient financial systems and procedures as well as control mechanisms to support the smooth running of the operations and ensure compliance with respected donor and DCA’s policies and procedures. The key responsibility of Finance Officer is to ensure effective, qualitative and efficient support to the financial tasks and day to day work of DCA Country Office Project/Program.
Main Responsibilities:
Financial Management
Ensure the timely payment of all bills and invoices with the proper authorization and supporting.
Review bill vouchers and make payment request and approve it from the authority.
Data posting in Accounting software, data verify and preparing the vouchers.
Deal with the bank and keeping a track of funds flow.
Assist in prepare accurate and timely vouchers and proper records filing and retention.
Assist in maintaining Bankbook.
Maintain cash book and Responsible for the management of petty cash,
Identify Govt. VAT & Tax and deduct and deposit as per Government requirement.
Monitor Advance management systems and ensure timely adjustment of advance.
Maintain cashbook and ledger, cash holdings, and prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
Assist during the time of both internal and external audit.
Assist in preparation of office and project budget and ensure monitoring of the budget.
Coordinate with other staff members for financial management.
Monthly Field visit for payment.
Financial reporting and Management Requirements
Prepare reports/information to Support Internal and external Auditors
Prepare and provide information from database for day to day use by the management.
Prepare and post monthly financial status (expense summary report) and report to Head of Support Services and Finance Coordinator
Prepare Donor Report/ others required report as per requirement.
Others (Professional and personal development)
Maintain confidentiality as per the DCA’s policies and procedures
Periodic performance review and achieve performance agreement goals in accordance with Team Objective.
Other duties as requested by the supervisor to enable and develop DCA programs.
Required experience, skills and qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Studies.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Finance/Accounting.
Knowledge of computerized accounting software.
Minimum 1 year of working experience with INGOs.
Good communication skills.
Ability to build good working relationship with project team and partners at a range of levels and in different locations.
Knowledge of donor’s reporting requirements will be an advantage.
Professional skills:
Strong financial analytical skills.
Ability and willingness to work in a team
Excellent capacity building skills for local NGOs/partners
Key competencies
Pro- active with an ability to think analytically, identifying opportunities and mechanisms to broaden programming
Self-starter and take initiative
Strong communicator (English and Bangla)
Results oriented
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Ability to problem solve and good decision making skills
Strong team player
Ability to maintain strong integrity on behalf of the organization
