বাংলাদেশকে একটি মধ্যম আয়ের দেশে পরিণত করতে হলে আমাদের বৃহৎ যুবসমাজকে উন্নয়ন ও প্রবৃদ্ধির মূল চালিকাশক্তি হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে হবে। সেই লক্ষ্যকে সামনে রেখে যুব উন্নয়ন অধিদপ্তর এসডিজি লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ৮.৬ অনুযায়ী চাকরিপ্রার্থী তরুণ-তরুণীদের জন্য বিভিন্ন ধরনের বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণের আয়োজন করে আসছে। যুব উন্নয়ন অধিদপ্তর তার প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে জুন, 2022 পর্যন্ত মোট 67,65,049 যুবককে প্রশিক্ষণ দিয়েছে। এর মধ্যে 23,02,296 জন স্ব-কর্মসংস্থান হয়েছে ডিসেম্বর, 2021 পর্যন্ত। যাদের মাসিক আয়ুসীমা 4500/ থেকে - থেকে 1,00,000/-। 8ম পঞ্চবার্ষিক পরিকল্পনা অনুযায়ী (2020-2021 থেকে 2024-2025) প্রশিক্ষণের লক্ষ্য 19,25,000 জন। 2022-23-2,74,122 জনকে আর্থিক বছরের জন্য প্রশিক্ষণের লক্ষ্য।
